Privacy policy
Rubydose is a timer, dose calculator and log for red light therapy devices you own. This page explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have. You don't create an account, and we don't sell your personal information.
Information that stays on your phone
- Your device profiles: name, type, the irradiance and distance you enter, your target dose and the body areas you choose.
- Your sessions: date, time, device, areas, seconds per area and the dose worked out from them.
- The session in progress, saved when it starts so the timer survives the app being closed.
- Progress photos you take or pick, copied into the app's private folder.
- Settings such as sounds, the daily reminder and its time.
All of this is stored in the app's private storage. None of it is sent to us or to anyone else, and photos are never uploaded. You can delete a session or a photo in the app; uninstalling the app or clearing its data deletes everything.
Camera and photos
Rubydose opens your camera app or the Android photo picker only when you tap Camera or Gallery on the Before / after screen. It does not request access to your whole photo library and does not use the camera at any other time.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, Rubydose schedules a daily reminder at the time you choose and a "session done" alert in case the app is closed when a session ends. Both are scheduled on your phone and work offline. You can turn the reminder off in Settings.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
Rubydose is free and shows optional rewarded videos (to add a device slot, open before / after compare for a day, or export your log) and an occasional full-screen ad after a session summary, through Google AdMob. Ads never appear during a running session, and there are no banner ads. To show and measure ads and to prevent fraud, Google may collect:
- your device's advertising ID and other device identifiers,
- approximate location derived from your IP address,
- information about how you interact with ads, and basic device and app information.
Your sessions, devices and photos are never shared with Google AdMob. If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, the app asks for your consent before personalised ads are shown. You can change your choice at any time in Rubydose under Settings > Ad privacy choices. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's Android settings.
Google's use of this data is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
No analytics
The Rubydose app does not include any analytics or tracking SDK besides the advertising described above. This website does not use analytics or cookies, and its fonts are served from this site.
The teaser video on the home page is hosted on YouTube. It loads only when you press play, and YouTube may then set its own cookies under Google's privacy policy.
Health information
Doses are worked out from the numbers you enter (irradiance × time) and depend on the accuracy of your device's specifications. Rubydose is a timer and log, not a medical device. It does not treat, cure or diagnose any condition, and it does not connect to Health Connect or other health services.
Children
Rubydose is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has used the app in a way that concerns you, contact us below.
Data security and retention
Data sent to Google's advertising services travels over encrypted connections and is kept according to Google's policies. Data on your device stays until you delete it or uninstall the app. A CSV export you create is a file you control and share yourself.
Your choices
- Delete any session (swipe it in the log) or photo (long-press it).
- Turn the daily reminder off in Settings, or deny notifications.
- Change ad consent in Settings > Ad privacy choices (where offered).
- Reset or delete your advertising ID in Android settings.
- Delete all local data by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling it.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and its effective date.
